Wednesday, 04 December 2024

Generally cloudy with sunny spells and a moderate north westerly.   The best of the days sightings saw an Arctic Skua over the sea, 4 Water Rails around the triangle, 60 Black-tailed Godwits on the wetlands, 2 Chiffchaffs in Easington, 10 Meadow Pipits flew south and 3 Brambling, a Bullfinch and 5 Siskins in the triangle.

A nice bright sunny start soon clouded over with showers during the afternoon along with a F4 north westerly.  A quiet day in the rain did see 9 Barnacle Geese with the Brent flock plus 10 Shovelers, 82 Wigeon and 120 Teal on the wetlands. Around the area 4 Woodcocks and 2 Chiffchaffs were the best of the grounded migrants, 

There was also some movement overland which produced 10 Stock Doves, a Marsh Harrier, 8 Skylarks, 45 Starlings, 4 Alba Wagtails, 12 Meadow Pipits, 2 Siskins and a Corn Bunting.

Sunday, 01 December 2024

Cloudy with rain and a  F6 southerly.  Some light movement over the sea brought 3 Bewick's Swans all adults heading south east and a welcome addition to the year list. Also moving 2 Shelducks, 2 Shovelers, 6 Wigeons, 62 Teal, 2 Eiders and 10 Red-throated Divers. There was still decent numbers of Wildfowl in the ponds area 17 Shovelers, 80 Wigeons, 116 Teal and 44 Mallards plus 70 Black-tailed Godwits. 

A few grounded migrants remained including a Chiffchaff, 11 Fieldfares and a Brambling around the triangle.
