A wet and windy start with a F7 southerly clowing, the day got a little better and dryer in the afternoon but overall a poor day. Watches 0630-1000

While the spring has somewhat fallen flat mainly due to poor weather and unhelpful winds good birds have trickled in today saw a nice Red-necked Phalarope appear on Kilnsea wetlands but it didnt remain too long evetually being found further up the Humber at Oustrays. The only other passage Waders were a Common Sandpiper and several Whimbrels. It was equally poor for grounded migrants with just 2 Wheatears and a the first Cuckoo for a wee while. 

There was again a Pale-bellied Brent around the ponds plus 232 Brent Geese and a blogging Hobby while vizmig had just 37 Swifts, 16 Swallows and 21 House Martins.

Sunny spells with showers by midday with a light southerly winds. Watches 0630-1000

The day was similar to the previous with some light movement of sea and land which included a Shoveler, 2 Gadwalls, 4 Little Egrets, 26 Sand Martins, 81 Swallows, 11 House Martins, a Grey Wagtail, 4 Alba Wagtails, 12 Chaffinches, 18 Goldfinches, a Siskin and 3 Corn Buntings while a Rock Pipit was around the warren area. 

A joint count around the area saw 588 Ringed Plovers recorded but 5 Whimbrels and 105 Little Terns were about the best of the rest.

An intially breezy day with sunny intervals throughout. A F4 west wind eventually calming into the evening. 

Some light southbound passage included a Marsh Harrier, 19 Sand Martins, 98 Swallows, 2 House Martins, 2 Flava Wagtails, 21 Chafficnhes and a Siskins while a Short-eared Owl went out high east. 

The beacon ponds area held a great count of 143 Little Terns along with 2 Pale-bellied Brents, 150 Brent Geese and a Greenshank.

A largely cloudy day with some sunny intervals, later turning increasingly windy with light rain in the evening.

Sightings were definitely on the quality rather than quantity side of things today with a summer plumage American Golden Plover on the Humber off the gate (and later at Oustray) and now 2 Temminck's Stints on beacon ponds/wetlands area which eventually flew off north while a lovely female Montagu's Harrier flew south. The best of other south bound vismig were just 104 Swallows. 

Other bits saw 2 Pale-bellied Brents with 286 Brent Geese in the ponds area while Passerine migrants were poorly represented by just 5 Wheatears.

A largely cloudy and dull day with strong F5 northwesterly winds, eventually dropping around dusk.

A nice adult Long-tailed Skua headed south over the sea plus 52 Kittiwakes, an Arctic Skua, single Puffin, 22 Guillemots, 4 Razorbills, 4 Fulmars, 4 Manx Shearwaters and 55 Gannets. 

There was no sign of the Temminck's Stint but in the area 14 Gadwalls, a Wigeon, single Pochard, 12 Avocets, a Short-eared Owl and 40 Sand Martins.

Initially chilly morning with some brief heavy rain clearing for a pleasant afternoon with warm sunshine and light winds.

The same or new Temminck's Stint was at Kilnsea wetlands showing well while a Hooded Crow flew south in what has been a good spring for them so far. Also moving were a Wood Sandpiper, single Arctic Skua, a Puffin, 5 Jackdaws, 4 Rooks, a Tree Pipit and 2 Redpolls. 

Other bits saw the Black Brant still on beacon ponds, a Short-eared Owl here also while Passerine migrants included a Willow Warbler, single Garden Warbler, a Black Redstart and 7 Wheatears.

A day of sunny spells and showers some on the heavy side. Watches 0630-1000

The White-fronted Goose remained at beacon ponds where there was also Black Brant, the 2 Pale-bellied Brents, 200 Brent Geese, a Pochard, 2 Common Sandpipers, 41 Little Terns and a Short-eared Owl. 

Passerine interest was limited with just a Black Redstart and 3 Wheatears of note as was the vismig with a Little Gull, single Marsh Harrier, a Common Buzzard, 36 Swallows, a Grey Wagtail and 2 Siskins plus a Hobby hunted the area.

A cold F6 north west wind blowing strong but sunny spells making it pleasant out of the wind. Watches 0630-1000

Despite the conditions it was a better day all round the highlight a relatively brief Temminck's Stint on the wetlands the area also having 3 Spoonbills, a White-fronted Goose, the Black Brant, 2 Pale-bellied Brents, 300 Brent Geese, a Caspian Gull, 2 Wigeon, 4 Teal and 50 Little Terns while a grey Curlew Sandpiper was on the Humber. 

Again there was little on the move though an Osprey headed south over the sea plus 4 Tufted Ducks, 2 Marsh Harriers and 24 Swallows.

A cold windy day with a F7 north easterly with plenty of sunshine though. Watches 0630-1000.

The day saw very little of note in difficult conditions, Passerines represented by a Willow warblers, single Black Redstart and 2 Wheatears. On the move 41 Common Scoters and a possible Hen Harrier flew south over the sea.

A cold wind blowing today warming up by midday out of the wind. Watches 0630-1000

The years first Turtle Dove was welcome as it flew from Sammys towards Kilnsea but in terms of vismig and grounded migrants it was poor with 2 Willow Warblers, a Black Redstart and 4 Wheatears the most obvious among the breeders. 

Elsewhere the Black Brant was on beacon ponds with 250 Brent Geese, 2 Water Rails in the triangle, 294 Ringed Plovers had gathered in the area with 11 Whimbrels still lingering, a Short-eared Owl and Hobby hunting and 2 Tawny Owls in Easington..

A nice start clouded up slowly with an increasing F2 south east wind but still nice for a long part of the day. Watches 0600-1000

It was a busier day around the area and while yet again few in number a scatter of migrants remained with a Jack Snipe the standout plus a Cuckoo, 2 Willow Warblers, single Garden Warbler, a Spotted Flycatcher, single Pied Flycatcher, 2 Whinchats, 6 Wheatears and a Blue-headed Wagtail. Other bits saw a Curlew Sandpiper on the Humber, 2 Pale-bellied Brents again by the wetlands, 3 Tufted Ducks on the Humber, 10 Whimbrels still lingering in the area and a Caspian Gull on the wetlands. 

The vismigers had a slightly better varied morning with 5 Barnacle Geese, 2 Lapwings, a Wood Sandpiper, a Great Northern Diver, 3 Spoonbills, a Marsh Harrier, 5 Jackdaws, a Hooded Crow, 28 Sand Martins, 254 Swallows, 3 Flava Wagtails, a Tree Pipit and 5 Chaffinches.

A cold cloudy start brightened up later on with a cool wind.  Watches 0600-1000

The trickle of south bound migration continued today seeing 2 Marsh Harriers, 28 Sand Martins, 226 Swallows, 4 House Martins, 4 Flava Wagtails and 10 Goldfinches. 

The lack of grounded migrants continued but did included a Firecrest was at the point while other bits included 2 Willow Warblers, 15 Chiffchaffs, a Garden Warbler, single Whinchat, a Wheatear and single Brambling.

The Black Brant and 2 Pale-bellied Brents made a re-appearance with 366 Brent Geese around the wetlands area with also 2 Greenshanks and a Yellow-legged Gull.

A cold start with a light wind picking up later on with plenty of sunshine to be. Watches 0530-1000

A Wood Lark south from Sammys to the Warren where it lingered was the days highlight before it headed south was the best of another quiet vismig with just 6 Sand Martins, 131 Swallows, a Tree Pipit and 12 Goldfinches. 

Migrants were well scattered and few in number but included a Grasshopper warbler, single Spotted Flycatcher, a Redstart, single White Wagtail and a wandering Corn Bunting. The Brent Goose reached 950 as is typical before they begin their migration out east.

A cold day with a raw F6 northerly wind with it slowly brightening up in the afternoon after a few showers. Watches 0700-1000. 

A change to cooler northerlies did little for migration with the most noteable migrants being a female Pied Flycatcher at Kew, single Garden Warbler in Kilnsea, a Black Redstart at westmere farm, 5 Wheatears and a Mistle Thrush while a Wood Sandpiper and Barancle Goose flew south. .

The sea had very little to offer bar an Arctic Skua, single Manx Shearwater, 40 Guillemots and 94 Large Auk sp though 64 Arctic Terns flew out east..

Light winds and sunny spells was the order of the day.  Watches 0600-1000, 1120-1220 

A Red-rumped Swallow by the Bluebell apparently flew south when there was some increase in the vismig including 18 Carrion Crows, 357 Swallows and 3 House Martins.

Kilnsea wetlands had a Wood Sandpiper and Spoonbill plus 18 Avocets, a Common Sandpiper and a Greenshank.

A cloudy morning brightened up in the afternoon with a moderate breeze.  Watches 0650-0935.

The day saw a nice scatter again of migrants but again in low numbers including 2 Garganey on canal scrape, a male Pied Flycatcher at chalk bank, 10 Willow Warblers, 39 Sedge Warblers, 2 Garden Warblers, a Redwing, 2 Fielkdafres, a Ring Ouzel, 2 Black Redstarts, a Redstart, 3 Whinchats, 11 Wheatears and 2 Siskins plus a Little Stint on the Humber and a Hobby blogging the area. 

A trickle of movement included a Red Kite, 4 Jackdaws, 13 Rooks, 54 Swallows, 5 Flava Wagtails and a Tree Pipit with 2 Arctic Skuas ans 2 Arctic Terns out east.

Overnight rain petered out by dawn, brightening up later on with a stiffish F4 north east wind. Watches 0700-1000

There was nowhere near the excitement of the previous day with a small arival of 6 Spotted Flycatchers new for the year. Also today were a Whinchat in Holderness field, at least 6 Common Sandpipers in the area and a Great White Egret at beacon ponds. The Black Brant was still lingering with the Brent flock.

Sunny spells but mostly cloudy especially afternoon onwards with an increasing wind and rain in the late evening.  Watches 0645-1200.

A brilliant day around the area with several good  birds. A male Red-footed Falcon at Sammys eventually flew off north west where a Nightingale was singing in the 2nd paddock and a red Curlew Sandpiper on the Humber here too. The vimiggers had a immature Montagu's Harrier and Red-rumped Swallow along with a Red Kite, 433 Swallows, 64 Sand Martins, 49 Flava Wagtails, 2 Tree Pipits, a Hooded Crow, 29 Carrion Crows and a Great White Egret while a 'flock' of unseen Bee-eaters passed over.

The point chipped in with a Wryneck on the parade ground, a Pied Flycatcher was at Kew, 2 Redstarts (both males) in Easington, 4 Wheatears, 7 Fieldfares and Hawfinch in Easington while a Little Stint on beacon ponds.

Sunny spells with some cloudy periods and a lightish wind.  Watches 0700-1000, 1150-1255 

Highlights from today saw a Nightjar roosting in the churchyard and a Wryneck by the ringing hut in churchfield which then flew off west. Also in the area was a lingering Osprey, a Hooded Crow (or hybrid) in Easington, a female Goldeneye on the Humber. Migrant numbers remained simlar again with  5 Willow Warblers, 14 Chiffchaffs, 21 Sedge Warblers, a Ring Ouzel, single male Redstart, a female Whinchat, 5 Wheatears, 9 Yellow Wagtails, a White Wagtail and Tree Pipit around the area. 

Some movement overland saw 15 Swifts, 130 Sand Martins, 599 Swallows, 8 Flava Wagtails, 19 Chaffinches, 33 Goldfinches and 12 Siskins head south with 36 Arctic Terns and a Little Gull out east.
