With so many birders covering the Spurn area it is always helpful for us to get as many records submitted to us as possible. Please try to send in sightings on the same day so we can get them added to the log.

Showers early morning petered out leaving sunny spells and the threat of more showers with a F4 south west-Northerly. Watches: 0600-1300.
There was again a small movement over land and sea the best being 57 Oystercatcher, 15 Golden Plover, a Little-ringed Plover, 14 Whimbrel, 49 Black-tailed Godwit, 45 Turstone, 120 Knot, 138 Sanderling, 166 Dunlin, 5 Snipe, 76 Redshank, 15 Arctic Tern, 459 Swift, 113 Sand Martin, 250 Swallow, 32 House Martin and an early Rock Pipit.
Kilnsea wetlands and beacon ponds were again busy especially at high tide with a Garganey, 23 Teal, a Spoonbill, 25 Little Egret, 3 Little-ringed Plover, 10 Black-tailed Godwit, 1390 Knot, a Little Stint, 3 Curlew Sandpiper, 5330 Dunlin, a Wood Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank while the Cetti's Warbler remained in Kilnsea.

Polite reminder for all visitors: the Little Tern colony at Beacon Ponds is extremely vulnerable to disturbance. PLEASE STAY WELL AWAY from the fenced area of beach which is clearly signposted, and respect the wardens on duty. Up to 90 birds are present in the colony and can be viewed well from the flood bank.
Sunny spells and the odd shower with a F4 south westerly. Watches: 0600-1000.
The day saw some decent Wader movement over the sea and the beginnings of the evening Tern roost which had 150 Arctic Tern head south. During the day the sea produced 540 Common Scoter, 19 Teal, 44 Oystercatcher, 2 Grey Plover, 48 Whimbrel, 5 Curlew, 66 Black-tailed Godwit, 20 Turnstone, 61 Knot, 9 Sanderling, 31 Dunlin, a Common Sandpiper, 61 Redshank, 27 Kittiwake and a juvenile Caspian Gull in/off.
A Cetti's Warbler was unusual for the time of year in Kilnsea while nearby a busy Kilnsea wetlands area had a Spoonbill, 41 Little Egret, 2 Avocet, 3 Little-ringed Plover, 34 Black-tailed Godwit, 3500 Knot, 3 Curlew Sandpiper, 6500 Dunlin, 2 Green Sandpiper, a Wood sandpiper, 4 Greenshank, a Yellow-legged Gull and 120 Little Tern.

Mainly cloudy with just the odd sunny spell and a F4 south easterly. Watches: 0500-0900, 1230-1430.
Another good day in the Kilnsea wetlands area brought 15 Teal, 33 Little Egret, 2 Avocet, 3 Little-ringed Plover, a Curlew Sandpiper, 4000 Dunlin, a Little Stint, 525 Redshank, a Wood Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank, 3 Yellow-legged Gull, 205 Little Tern and a Hobby with the adult Roseate Tern again at chalk bank.

Sunny spells with virable amounts of cloud and a moderate F3 south easterly. Watches: 0545-1000.
A much quieter sea saw a full spooned Pomarine Skua head south along with 4 Arctic Skua, 145 Common Scoter, 2 Fulmar, 6 Manx Shearwater, 111 Gannet, 86 Oystercatcher, 119 Whimbrel, 12 Dunlin, a Purple Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank, 36 Kittiwake and 8 Little Gull.
The adult Roseate Tern was again at chalk bank where a yellow darvic ringed juvenile Caspian Gull was also present while up in the Kilnsea wetlands area 39 Little Egret, 4 Little-ringed Plover, a Ruff, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, 2500 Dunlin, a Little Stint, 3 Green Sandpiper, 200 Redshank, 4 Greenshank, a Wood Sanpiper, 2 juvenile Yellow-legged Gulls and 102 Little Tern.

The sea was quite busy again with Seabirds and Waders on the move the best being 93 Common Scoter, 5 Sooty Sheaarwater, 98 Manx Shearwater, a Balearic Shearwater, 279 Gannet, 111 Oystercatcher, 16 Whimbrel, 5 Black-tailed Godwit, 46 Knot, 30 Dunlin, 12 Kittiwake and 19 Little Gull.
An adult Roseate Tern was roosting with Sandwich Terns at Chalk bank, 3 Arctic Skua blogging the area, a juvenile Cuckoo in Kilnsea while with Kilnsea wetlands again having a nice selection of passage Waders, a Little-ringed Plover, 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 1000 Dunlin, 2 Common Sandpiper, 340 Redshank and a Wood Sandpiper.

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower and sunny spell with light F2 north easterly. Watches: 0600-1000.
The sea maybe dominated the day with 2 Cory's Shearwater (plus a Large Shearwater sp) heading north at 07:15 and 17:10, being reflected at several other sites along the east coast. The sea also had 90 Manx Shearwater, 5 Teal, 51 Common Scoter, a Red-throated Diver, 134 Gannet, 6 Cormorant, 44 Oystercatcher, 15 Dunlin, 6 Redshank, 10 Kittiwake and 2 Little Gull.
An Osprey lingered over the Humber early morning then headed south while the Kilnsea wetlands area had a Little Ringed Plover, 3 Black-tailed Godwit, a Ruff 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 4100 Dunlin, a Little Stint, 4 Greenshank with 109 Little Tern on beacon ponds.

Sunny spells to start with but showers or longer spells of rain late afternoon with a F6 north westerly. Watches: 0500-1000.
The days biggest news was a record count of 15 Little-ringed Plover on Kilnsea wetlands more than doubling the previous count. Also in this area were 6 Teal, 32 Little Egret, an Avocet, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, a Ruff, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, 1500 Dunlin, a Greenshank, 8 Mediterranean Gull, a Yellow-legged Gull, 200 Sandwich Tern, an Arctic Tern and a Hobby.
Some movement again over the sea with 58 Whimbrel, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 2 Turnstone, 33 Knot, 52 Sanderling, 19 Dunlin, a Snipe and 26 Redshank while overland 803 Swift and 113 Sand Martin headed south.
Ringing: 1 wood Pigeon, 1 Blackcap.

Hot and humid, sunny spells with a F6 south westerly. Watches: 0600-1000.
Kilnsea wetlands did the trick again this time pulling in an adult WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER which occasionally showed well infront of the hide. Aslo here were 3 Curlew Sandpiper, a Ruff, 3 Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Little-ringed Plover, 3 Common Sandpiper, a Green Sandpiper, 120 Redshank, a Greenshank, 31 Little Egret and a Hobby.

Sunny spells with a light F2 south easterly. Watches: 0600-1000.
There was a nice total of 4 Curlew Sandpipers on Kilnsea wetlands, all nice red birds along with a Wood Sandpiper, 2 Little-ringed Plover, a Ruff, 2000 Dunlin, a Green Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank, 214 Little Gull and 20 Mediterranean Gull.
The first Sooty Shearwater of the summer flew north while there were a few more Waders on the move south, 52 Oystercatcher, 58 Whimbrel, 6 Turnstone, 14 Knot, 25 Sanderling, 67 Dunlin and 28 Redshank with 300 SWift south overland.

Sunny start clouding over with a F3 north easterly. Watches: 0500-0900.
It was another good day at the wetlands with 2 Curlew Sandpiper, a Wood Sandpiper, 4 Little-ringed Plover, a Ruff, 2 Green Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank, a Yellow-legged Gull, 22 Little Gull and 12 Mediterranean Gull.
Wader passage picked up again with 130 Oystercatcher, 11 Grey Plover, a Whimbrel, 4 Turnstone, 3 Knot, 15 Sanderling, 29 Dunlin and 2 Redshank.

Cloudy start brightening later with a F3 northerly. Watches: 0530-1000.
Kilnsea wetlands maintained its 'the place to go during the summer months' with the usual good birding, todays offering being a red darvic ringed juvenile Caspain Gull, 2 Yellow-legged Gulls, a Wood Samdpiper, 1520 Dunlin, a Ruff, 3 Common Sandpiper, 2 Little-ringed Plover and 386 Sandwich Tern amomg the hordes of other birds.
Offshore 3 Arcitc Skuas lingered and a Cuckoo was in the triangle.

Bright, sunny and warm to start with clouding over by midday with a F5 north westerly. Watches: 0500-0815.
Kilnsea wetlands area had the best of the sightings once again with 3 Curlew Sandpiper in breeding plumage, 2 Yellow-legged Gull (adult and juveile), a Wood Sandpiper, 2 Ruff, 3 Greenshank, a Green Sandpiper, 1500 Dunlin, 2 Snipe, 39 Mediterranean Gull, 170 Little Gull, 31 Little Egret and 15 Grey Heron.
The best of the sea was a Little Stint south with 119 Swift and 332 Sand Martin and 159 Swallow overland. Full counts on Trektellen.

Another hot sunny day with a F3 southerly. Watches: 0500-1000, 1400-1500.
A surprise Nightjar flew over Driftwood in the evening while other Passerines were still scarce with just 1 returning juvenile Willow Warbler and a Stonechat. THe Little Stint, Wood Sandpiper and Spoonbill remained at Kilnsea wetlands plus a Yellow-legged Gull and 38 Little Egret noteworthy.
Movement over the sea saw 11 Tufted Duck, 6 Grey Plover, 56 Knot, 380 Dunlin, a Purple Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper and 12 Redshank with 108 Sand Martin overland. Full counts on Trektellen.

A hot day with blue skies and a F3 south westerly. Watches: 0520-1000.
It was a good day all round, some decent movement over the sea, while Kilnsea wetlands was busy again. Highlights from here saw the first juvenile Caspian Gull (red darvic ring) of the autumn recorded along with a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull, immature Spoonbill and a Wood Sandpiper. Further sightings ihere ncluded 34 Little Egret, a Little-ringed Plover, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, a Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Sandpiper and 12 Mediterranean Gull.
The sea delivered 260 Black-tailed Godwit heading south along with 26 Sanderling, 35 Dunlin, 24 Redshank and 5 Tufted Duck. Full counts on Trektellen.

It was a slightly better for southerly movement over the sea, the best being 11 Shelduck, 4 Pochard, 25 Gadwall, 290 Common Scoter, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Grey Heron, 27 Oystercatcher and 4 Puffin with a Short-eared Owl and 94 Sand Martin overland. Full counts on Trektellen.
An adult Purple Sandpiper was at the breach with now 3000 Dunlin in the Kilnsea wetlands area where the 3 Little-ringed Plover remained and a Cuckoo and a Crossbill were wandering the triangle.

Sunny spells with a light F1 north easterly. Watches: 0500-1100.
The Kilnsea wetlands/beacon ponds area had the best of the action once again, both Little Stint and Curlew Sandpiper on beacon ponds and 150 Little Gull, 285 Sandwich Terns and a Kingfisher around Kilnsea wetlands. The same area also had 20 Little Egret, 3 Little-ringed Plover, 3 Black-tailed Godwit, 2000 Dunlin, a Green Sandpiper and 9 Mediterranean Gull.
Ringing: 1 Kingfisher, 2 Sedge Warbler, 5 Meadow Pipit, 3 Linnet.

Warm, sunny spells with the odd very light shower and a F2 north easterly. Watches: 0540-1100.
The days best sightings came from Kilnsea wetlands returning good counts of 37 Little Egret, 5 Little-ringed Plover, 15 Black-tailed Godwit and 1500 Dunlin plus a Green Sandpiper, 229 Redshank, 30 Little Gull, 10 Mediterranean Gull, 50 Sandwich Tern (15 juveniles), 2 Arctic Tern and a Hobby.
The sea was quiet with just an Eider, 25 Common Scoter and 2 Curlew worthy of note. Full counts on Trektellen.

A warm day with sunny spells and a F2 north easterly. Watches: 0535-1100.
A nice adult Roseate Tern was on the Humber off the gate flying off with Gulls and 152 Curlew and 1200 Dunlin also here.
The Kilnsea wetlands area was busy as usual 29 Little Egret, 2 Marsh Harrier, 4 Little-ringed Plover, 35 Black-tailed Godwit, a Common Sandpiper, 352 Redshank, a Greenshank, 4 Snipe, 8 Turnstone, 213 Little Gull, 8 Mediterranean Gull, 53 Sandwich Tern, 2 Arctic Tern and a juvenile Wheatear.

Overcast with a light F1-4 south easterly. Watches: 0535-1100.
The adult male Rose-coloured Starling remained around the Kilnsea wetlands area but wandering as far as Easington. The Kilnsea wetlands area also held 24 Little Egret, 2 Marsh Harrier, 2 Black-tailed Godwit, a Ruff, 1 Common Sandpiper, a Green Sandpiper, 176 Little Gull and 13 Mediterranean Gull.
There were a few bits of the move of note with 6 Manx Shearwater, a Great Crested Grebe, 1 Red Kite, 6 Whimbrel, 10 Curlew, 3 Snipe, 3 Redshank, 578 Swift and 213 Sand Martin. Full counts on Trektellen.
Elsewhere 142 Golden Plover, 120 Curlew, 1500 Dunlin and an Arctic Skua were on the Humber while 2 Cuckoo were on the triangle.

Blue skies to start clouding over later with a F1-4 south easterly. Watches: 0500-1000.
Late in the day a 'punky; adult male Rose-coloured Starling dropped into Kilnsea wetlands for a bath, before moving into some local gardens to feed. The Kilnsea wetlands area also held 42 Little Egret, a Marsh Harrier, 1 Common Sandpiper, 5 Snipe, a Greenshank, 125 Little Tern, 85 Little Gull and 12 Mediterranean Gull.
Elsewhere 163 Golden Plover, 102 Curlew and 350 Dunlin were on the Humber, while the seas best offering was 193 Common Scoter

Blue skies and hot and sunny with a F3 north easterly. Watches: 0535-1000.
It was almost a case of deja-vu on Kilnsea wetlands area with Wigeon, 2 Teal, 40 Little Egret, a Marsh Harrier, 2 Common Sandpiper, a Green Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank, 58 Little Gull and 14 Mediterranean Gull.
The sea was quiet again the best being 237 Common Scoter, 11 Manx Shearwater, a Shag, 4 Curlew and 2 Kittiwake.
Ringing: 6 Sand Martin, 7 Swallow, 1 Reed Warbler, 1 Reed Bunting pulli.

A day of sunny spells and a F4 north easterly. Watches: 0535-1000.
The best of the day were on Kilnsea wetlands area which held a Wigeon, 4 Teal, a great total of 44 Little Egret, 2 Marsh Harrier, 35 Black-tailed Godwit, a Common Sandpiper, 178 Redshank, 63 Little Gull and 13 Mediterranean Gull.

The best of todays sightings were mainly centred around the Kilnsea wetlands area with a Wigeon, 10 Grey Heron, 19 Little Egret, 4 Lapwing, 3 Little-ringed Plover, 6 Black-tailed Godwit, 7 Turnstone, 2 Snipe, a Common Sandpiper, 145 Redshank, a Greenshank, 23 Little Gull, 9 Mediterranean Gull and an Arctic Tern.
It was much quieter for birds on the move the best being 46 Common Scoter, 3 Manx Shearwater and 2 Curlew in/off.

Overcast with drizzle brightening with a strong F6 north westerly. Watches: 0545-1050.
It was a much quieter day overall the best of which was over the sea, 46 Manx Shearwater and 5 Great Crested Grebe the standout counts with also 98 Common Scoter, 5 Fulmar, 177 Gannet, 40 Kittiwake and 3 Puffin. Full counts on Trektellen.
A nice rusty male Ruff was on Kilnsea wetlands with the same area also holding 34 Little Egret, 3 Snipe, a Common Sandpiper, 164 Redshank, a Greenshank, 33 Little Gull and 160 Sand Martin in the area.

It was a decent day for vismiggers which saw 1113 Swift and 565 Sand Martin fly south along with 10 Tufted Duck, an Eider, 86 Common Scoter, 4 Manx Shearwater, 17 Oystercatcher, 10 Curlew, 17 Black-tailed Godwit, 7 Kittiwake, a Puffin, 67 Swallow, 2 House Martin, a Yellow Wagtail and 2 Pied Wagtail.
The first juvenile Yellow-legged Gull of the 'autumn' was on Kilnsea wetlands along with 2 Tufted Duck, 2 Little Egret, a Little-ringed Plover and 118 Redshank.

A day of sunny spells and a F3 north westerly. Watches: 0540-1000.
It was a another generally quiet day, but the first returning juvenile Wheatears singles at the Point, accompanied by a juvenile Stonechat and another at beacon ponds were nice. A Tree Pipit and Siskin flying south suggested at change for the month ahead as more summer breeders disperse.
The Kilnsea wetlands area held a Tufted Duck, 21 Little Egret, 3 Little-ringed Plover, 10 Black-tailed Godwit, a Common Sandpiper, 147 Redshank, 61 Little Gull and 3 Mediterranean Gull.

Bright and sunny clouding over with a F6 north westerly. Watches: 0525-1200.
There was a steady decent southerly movement of birds over the sea mainly Waders with 3 Oystercatcher, 2 Golden Plover, 9 Curlew, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit, 40 Black-tailed Godwit, 53 Dunlin, a Green Sandpiper and 10 Redshank plus 422 Swift and 188 Sand Martin heading south overland.
Elsewhere Kilnsea wetlands had good counts of 28 Little Egret and 32 Black-tailed Godwit and a blogging Hobby hunting the area.

Bright and sunny to start clouding over and a F4 north westerly. Watches: 0525-1200.
The best sighting of the day was a Bee-eater high over Kilnsea wetlands which probably continued south. The same area also held a Wigeon, 8 Teal, 17 Avocet, 2 Littlle-ringed Plover, 68 Black-tailed Godwit, 87 Dunlin, 5 Snipe, a Green Sandpiper, 57 Little Gull and 6 Mediterranean Gull.
There was a steady movement of birds overland and the sea the best being 3 Tufted Duck, 163 Common Scoter, a Curlew, 11 Black-tailed Godwit, 9 Knot, 253 Swift, 69 Sand Martin and 75 Swallow. Full details on Trektellen.
Elsewhere a Cuckoo wandered the area, the first returning Willow Warbler in Church field while breeding was confirmed for both Chiffchaff and Blackcap.

Bee-eater - This bird has been widely travelled the distinctive V from missing feathers allowed its tracking from Scilly to Norfolk, in early June where the birds it accompanied set up a small breeding colony in Trimingham. This bird then wandered off passing though Spurn then arrived back in Trimingham the next day!

Bright and sunny to start with heavy thundery showers later and a F7 south westerly. Watches: 0520-1251
There was some movement mainly Waders but our first Cory’s Shearwater of the year flew north plus 4 Oystercatcher, 2Whimbrel, 13 Curlew, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit, 3 Dunlin, 2 Redshank and 10 Kittiwake while overland 781 Swift and 42 Sand Martin flew south.
Other sightings included a ringtail Hen Harrier and 2 Green Sandpiper and 27 Little Egret on Kilnsea wetlands.

The best 'sighting' of the day was a singing Quail in the long bank area in what seems to be a good year in the UK. The area around here also had a Wigeon, 7 Teal, 9 Grey Heron, 35 Little Egret, 10 Avocet, 4 Snipe, 3 Common Sandpiper, a Green Sandpiper, 70 Little Gull and 2 Mediterranean Gull.
A nice early returing Tree Pipit was at the Warren with the Vismiggers also recording 21 Shelduck, 2 Wigeon, 5 Curlew, 17 Black-tailed Godwit, 18 swift and 27 Sand Martin. Full counts on Trektellen.
