Young Birder Of The Year

This years Migration Festival hosted the first Next Generation Birders/Spurn Bird Observatory Young Birder Of The Year competition.

11 September 2015

It was a great success with a very high standard of entries, the finalists Evie Miller, Ellis Lucas and Findlay Wilde amazed the judging panel with their knowledge and field skills and it’s fair to say they were all winners in their own right.

The result was incredibly close but just edging out his fellow competitors was Findlay Wilde, who received the top prize of a superb pair of binoculars which were kindly donated by Swarovski, and his name the winners plaque that will be displayed in the observatory. All 3 contestants received “Friends of Spurn” membership for a year, two nights free accomomdation at the observatory and a copy of Martin Garner’s latest Birding frontiers challenge series book.

Spurn Bird Observatory hopes to see Evie, Ellis and Findlay in the future as they will clearly become tomorrows top birders.
