We're delighted to be bringing back the Triangle Treks for Autumn!
24 August 2026
Autumn is Spurn’s most famous season. As birds begin their long journeys south, the peninsula becomes one of the best places in Britain to experience migration, with the chance of seeing anything from common migrants to nationally scarce and even rare species. Our Triangle Treks are a relaxed and enjoyable way to experience this remarkable spectacle and explore one of the country's premier migration hotspots.
These guided walks take place around the "Triangle" area of Spurn, where a mix of farmland, hedgerows and coastal habitats creates ideal conditions for migrating birds. Each walk offers something different, with the possibility of encountering chats, warblers, flycatchers, wagtails, birds of prey and much more, alongside the resident wildlife that calls Spurn home.
The walks are led by members of the Spurn Bird Observatory team, who will help point out birds and other wildlife, explain the movements taking place during autumn migration, and share a little about the history and work of the Observatory. Whether you're completely new to birdwatching or an experienced birder looking to learn more about Spurn, the walks are designed to be relaxed, informative and welcoming.
Triangle Treks take place on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 September until 15 November, except during Migfest weekend (11-13 September). Walks run from 10:30am until around 1:30pm. The pace is gentle, with regular stops to watch birds and enjoy the surrounding landscape.
Tickets cost £15 per person, with a discounted rate of £10 for Friends of Spurn. We also offer 20% off for visitors arriving by bike or public transport, as part of our effort to encourage greener travel to the peninsula. Under 18's are half price as well.
If you're looking for a relaxed way to experience the excitement of autumn migration, learn more about the birds passing through Spurn and spend a few hours exploring the area with knowledgeable guides, these walks are a great way to do it.
