Refurbished Warren Heligoland Trap

Work began in February and the fully refurbished, ready-for-action trap is now fit for purpose as of early April.

08 April 2019

It will be used to help catch some of the c10,000 birds we ring annually here at Spurn Bird Observatory.

Many thanks to all of the irreplaceable volunteers who came and lent a hand during our work party days. The Warren Heligoland is a monument of Spurn ringing; the first trap of its kind on mainland Britain, originally constructed at the Warren in 1946. It is wonderful to be able to continue its history.
