Thanks to a successful grant application to the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, we are delighted to announce that we will shortly be installing a brand-new toilet and shower block at the Kew Villa Caravan Site.
30 November 2025
This much needed upgrade will significantly improve the facilities available to everyone staying at Kew Villa, including visiting volunteers, residential trainees, conservation workers and guests using the site throughout the year. The new unit will provide clean, modern, and reliable amenities to support those working and engaging with nature at Spurn, as well as staying on the Caravan Site at Kew.
Improved welfare facilities have been a long-term aspiration for the Observatory, particularly as demand for volunteering and placement opportunities continues to grow. With more young people taking part in residential programmes and more visitors using Kew Villa during peak seasons, these enhancements will make a real difference to comfort, accessibility, and overall experience.
We are extremely grateful to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund for investing in our community and helping us strengthen the infrastructure that supports our conservation work, education programmes and volunteer network.
Installation is due to begin shortly, and we look forward to sharing updates as the project progresses.
A huge thank you to the UK Government for supporting this important improvement at Spurn.
