New Observatory: An update

We are now the proud owners of a new Observatory!

02 December 2015

The sale of the property went through a couple of weeks ago and we have already been busy. We have secured the change of use from a residential to commercial property and have submitted plans to build a new boot room, toilet and store to the rear of the kitchen.

A work party took place last weekend (thanks to all those who came along to help out) and we managed to strip out the bathroom in prep for it splitting into two and removed the built in wardrobes and all wallpaper from two bedrooms. We took up some decking to the rear and next week will demolish a shed for when we receive the necessary approval for the boot room. We have good quotes already in for much of the work required to transform the building into a great observatory and have a plan for work to start before Christmas.

We think you’ll agree Spurn Bird Obs is going from strength to strength and we intend to keep improving and developing everything we do, but we really need to reduce the mortgage we have had to take on to purchase this property, please visit our Just Giving campaign page and help out if you can, you’ll be helping secure the future of Spurn Bird Observatory and ensuring we are here for years to come.
