In its eleventh year, Migfest promises to be a spectacular weekend that brings together birders and wildlife enthusiasts of all skill levels and experiences to celebrate the spectacle of bird migration in one of the UK’s migration hotspots.

We’re looking forward to meeting old friends and new, learning from specialists on migration, and fostering the friendships that are so important for bird conservation on a local, national, and international scale. The birds themselves provide the foundation for the entire event, providing the opportunity to observe massive migrations of Meadow Pipits and other typical migrating birds as well as the hope of discovering something less common. The Spurn Migration Festival Team has been putting in a lot of effort to ensure that the event is successful and even more enthralling than ever. Everybody can find something to enjoy at the 2024 festival thanks to its jam-packed event and lecture schedule. First of all, we are excited to let you know that Yorkshire Coast Nature is sponsoring the lecture marquee and Swarovski Optik has agreed to be our event’s primary sponsor. The Saturday night keynote speaker at this year’s Migfest will be Nigel Marven, and we can’t wait to hear about his work on TV and the things he’s seen during his talk “Tales of my Birdwatching Adventures (while being chased by dinosaurs, filming with Attenborough and finding deadly snakes)”. Additionally, we are absolutely thrilled to share that Lars Svensson will be the featured speaker at the RSPB/British Birds Friday night lecture; “70 years of birdwatching - still the same adventure!”.
