Little Tern warden job vacancy for 2018 season

A vacancy has arisen for the rewarding and potentially career developing position of Seasonal Little Tern Warden at Beacon Lagoons Nature Reserve, East Yorkshire.

02 February 2018

The Reserve is located at the base of the Spurn Peninsula and has been the site of a Little Tern colony for many years. An enhanced protection scheme has been in place since 2011 and in recent years the colony has been one of the most successful in the North of England, with new innovative protection measures implemented. Also the colony is one of over 20 sites participating in the national EU Life Little Tern recovery project.

The vacancy offers a superb opportunity for an individual seeking a career in conservation to develop their skills and make a real difference to the conservation of one of our most threatened birds. The position is suitable for someone with practical conservation experience, species protection experience, good communication skills and preferably at least a basic knowledge of birds and monitoring. Some night time wardening will be needed.

The contract will run from 2nd week of April until mid-late August and pay will be at the going minimum rate. Accommodation is available at Spurn Bird Observatory for a small fee.

Applications need to be received by 09 February 2018.
