With the autumn starting to kick into action we're putting back on our guided walks every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday and ringing demonstrations every Wednesday and Saturday in Church Field.

Autumn Guided Walks 09:00 – 12:00 – £10 per person for members of Friends of Spurn, £15 for non-members.
Want a personal guide to show you all the exciting migrants that might be present or arriving around Spurn? This is the event for you! We’ll take you around the most popular locations within a mile or so of the Bird Observatory, calling into Church Field where you can see some bird ringing if weather permits. Meet at the Observatory car park (directions here) at 9am and you can pay cash or card on the day.
Our first guided walk will be on Saturday 27th August and thereafter every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday from until Sunday 13th November.

Autumn Ringing Demonstrations 08:00 – 11:00 – Every Wednesday and Saturday from 27th August – 12th November in SBOT’s Church Field. Free to attend.
We’ll hopefully show you migrant birds up close during the ringing process. Learn all about why we ring birds, how we do it and where ringing shows us these birds are going to and coming from. Just turn up in Church Field, and Simon Davies our autumn ringer or Paul Collins our Warden will be present outside the green ringing lab, ready to hopefully show you birds up close! Enjoy learning more about the wonderful birds all around you. Donations welcomed to help support our work.

Our guides are hand-picked from the wonderful group of top birdwatchers who are lucky enough to be very familiar with Spurn and have a passion to showcase the birds of Spurn to visitors, ensuring your birding experience is the best it can be. This can focus on a specific species group or a general tour and can also include a ringing demonstration if you’d like.
