This weekend sees the return of the Michael Clegg Memorial Bird Race.
03 January 2025
Every January, birders across Yorkshire head out to their local patches to record as many species as possible in a single day, raising funds for charities across the county.
The 2025 Birdrace will be raising funds for SPURN – A MAGICAL PLACE. Spurn Bird Observatory now owns 12 acres of land, managed by an incredible team of volunteers. However, maintaining it all comes at a considerable cost.
The proceeds from the January 2025 Michael Clegg Memorial Birdrace will go towards the management of these seven parcels of precious land, supporting:
Every contribution makes a real difference. Thank you for helping to honour Michael’s memory and supporting the birds he loved through your generosity.
This year’s birdrace will follow a ‘green format’, meaning it will once again be a non-motorised event. Participants must travel around their chosen site on foot or by bicycle. Vehicles can only be used to reach the site and to meet team members but must then be parked up for the duration of the birding day.
