In line with the most recent government advice and directives, the Spurn Bird Observatory Trust directors have taken the decision to once again close the Observatory building and operations.
01 November 2020
Including our caravan sites, from 5th November until 5th December 2020 (“Hotels, hostels and other accommodation should only open for those who have to travel for work purposes…” https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november?priority-taxon=774cee22-d896-44c1-a611-e3109cce8eae). Ringing demonstration and guided walks will not be going ahead.
The latest government guidelines coming into effect from 5th November 2020 instruct the nation to stay and work at home, with exercise outdoors and visiting an outdoor public places permissible with the people you live with, with your support bubble or, when on your own, or with one person from another household. You must stay two metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or one metre with extra precautions in place. You should avoid all non-essential travel by private or public transport.
We are thankful that we were able to open the Observatory building during the autumn and welcome back visitors to the area, but now this the time to adhere to the advice set out by the government and their health advisors as we enter the winter period. It's going to be a long month ahead, but we are constantly monitoring the situation and keeping up to date with the government’s latest guidelines. We will inform all of our friends and supporters of any changes to the accommodation available at Spurn Bird Observatory.
Thank you for your patience during this time and for all the support shown by the birding community and beyond.
