There’s never been a more important time for young people who care about birds and the environment to take positive action.
08 June 2019
If you’re aged 16–23, this residential course – based at the world-famous Spurn Bird Observatory and run jointly by BTO and the bird observatory – will help you develop your leadership skills and better equip you to make a difference.
The course will run Monday 5–Thursday 8 August 2019, and costs just £45*. It will involve a wide range of interactive indoor and outdoor sessions on a range of skills from organisation to influencing, all designed to give you more confidence to play an active leadership role in the environmental sector. There’ll be time for some birding, too, at one of the best times of year for waders on the Humber estuary!
*The costs of running the course have been underwritten by BTO and SBOT, including accommodation, food and tuition, hence it is being offered at a low price. If the cost will be prohibitive for you but you are interested in attending, please email training@bto.org
Objectives
There will also be chance to think about ways you can improve your CV, and learn about the various employment opportunities at BTO and Spurn Bird Observatory.
Places are limited to 10. To apply, please email training@bto.org with no more than 500 words about your birding/natural history background, any related activities that you’ve been involved in leading or organising, and what you hope to gain from the course.
