After a meeting between SBOT staff and directors, we have decided to wind down the Observatory accommodation back to bookings on an exclusive only basis from Tues 10th November 2020 until further notice.
31 October 2020
We are honouring current bookings for the coming week, which all consist of one household using the Observatory facility at any one time.
This means that one household or ‘support bubble’ can book the whole Observatory building for their exclusive use. Guests will be required to bring ALL their own bedding and towels. Cleaning facilities, hand wash and sanitiser etc. are provided in the Observatory building. The building can be booked out for a minimum of two nights for £150 per night or £125 per night for three nights or more. We have currently paused our cancellation policy for all bookings.
Please note this means the Observatory building and facilities are still strictly off limits to all those who are not guests of a booking - please do not call in for a cup of tea etc. at Kew Villa. There are no toilet facilities on site for visitors. Any news on recent sightings in the area can be found through @spurnbirdobs on Twitter.
If you would like to enquire about making a booking for your exclusive use please contact accommodation.spurnbirdobs@hotmail.com.
We are constantly monitoring the situation and keeping up to date with the government’s latest guidelines. We will inform all of our friends and supporters of any changes to the accommodation available at Spurn Bird Observatory.
Thank you for your patience during this time and for all the support shown by the birding community and beyond. As we look to be heading towards another winter with restrictions on movement and socialising we would appreciate that all prospective visitors to the Spurn area heed the latest government guidelines on travel and social distancing – more on the local ‘Tier’ systems and what that means to the Observatory can be found here: https://www.spurnbirdobservatory.co.uk/news/post.php?s=2020-10-16-spurn-bird-observatory-accommodation-covid19-update-mid-october-2020
